I've heard that one of the best ways to get to know an area is to get lost in it. I know this is true, for me at least, and that's pretty much how I got to know the UofT campus...I got lost on numerous occasions, but for the most part, it was a good lost considering much of the area is pretty nice.
I love getting lost during runs. Given that I've moved recently and am trying to establish my new route, I'm excited to get lost in this area. I don't imagine though that I'll be doing much running along side streets since much of my new area isn't residential...or at least not as much as my old area.
We got lost during the team training on Saturday. We train in one of the nicest areas of Toronto so it makes the team training even more fun. It was pretty funny. This wasn't a new route to most of us either, but I guess running in such a nice residential area, you tend to pay more attention to the homes than say, to your path or your breathing or your strides that you lose focus on where you're going. We spent a good chunk of this run walking around (i.e. NOT running) trying to figure out if we missed a turn or if the correct turn was coming up. I haven't stopped during a run in a LONG time, so I painfully recalled the difficulty I have of starting up again. The group that spread out ahead of us got so far ahead that we couldn't find them and the groups behind us were so far behind us that I'm sure they must've had a similar problem. Believe me though, it wasn't a bad area to get lost in, and I look forward to getting lost there again.
On the other hand, I have a LOT of stretching to do and lactic acid removal to take care of considering how sore I am.

Out of my flow
With how busy the past few weeks have been, I've been quite horrible with my training. I was able to schedule 5 o'clock in the morning time slots, but lately, with how tired I've been, it's been quite difficult. In addition to that, I just moved this weekend and with how unfamiliar I am with the area, I have no set route yet, although there have been moments this week where I just want to run and run and then find my way home.
This though, has been my saving grace in the meantime. Must find a home for my chinup bar. Cheers to cross training.
